We’ve always been interested in Treasures, but in all these years, we’ve never been.

I can’t really tell you why. I think we thought it was too nice for us. I mean the club has a four-star steak house inside it. Maybe we figured it would be too pretentious. Or it would be too much like Spearmint Rhino or Saphires – two nice clubs that we have not been impressed with.

But to our surprise, Treasures was not like these two places at all. It was awesome, and will probably become our next favorite club. Since that first night, we’ve already been twice, found a sexy dancer that treats us right, and a waitress and doorman that remembers us. Just putting this in writing makes me think that Treasures will become the next Seamless and Ricks for us.

One reason we like Treasures is because its beautiful – the building, the décor, the dancers. Second of all, they cater to locals. These two aspects are basically the two most important things about a strip club for Ash and I.

When we go to a strip club for the first time, we always ask if they have locals’ specials. Most of them don’t, which just seems crazy to us, especially since there are clubs just down the street that are just as nice or nicer and offer $5 well drinks for all locals. How do these other clubs compete with that?

Well we asked our waitress if Treasures had any locals’ specials and it turns out they do. Locals can buy buy one get one free tickets (ends up being about $6 per drink) but each person can only buy two for the entire night. Now that part kind of stinks, because Ash and I can get trashed in a club, but at least they offer something.

And non-locals can buy these tickets too. But it’s not quite the same deal. I think it’s something like buy two drinks for for $20 (because I am a local I’m not completely sure what the non-local drink special is but it’s something close to this). Not as great, but again, at least they offer something to non-locals as well.

But we all know, as important the drinks are, the dancers are the most important aspect of the club.

At first, I wasn’t quite sure if any girls were going to approach us. We had been sitting for quite some time, girls seemed intrigued by us, but they weren’t stopping or talking to us. I wasn’t sure if maybe Treasures wasn’t a club for couples or what. But looking around, surprisingly, there were quite a few couples sitting around us.

Ash and I agreed that he would take care of the “love” part, and I would be in charge of the “sex” part. This is kind of backwards for us, but it was perfect.

We ordered two vodka tonics, slammed those down, then ordered another round. At that point, I excused myself to the bathroom to eat my cookies (Ash hasn’t smoked in four months and he wasn’t sure if he was going to partake in the cookies). I ate about ¾ of a cookie and went back to the bar. We finished round two and decided to order one more. We found a seat, and at this point I was starting to feel a little looser, but definitely not high. Ash turned to me and asked for a piece of cookie. I was shocked, but happy to hand some over. I gave him a big chunk and he happily ate it. We finished our drinks and headed to the theater.

Once inside, there was a concession stand with more drinks. We opted for The Beatles-Love novelty cup that contained three shots and a mixer for $20. This thing was huge! We got to our seats, which were awesome, and Ash asked for another piece of cookie. Again I handed him some and ate a bit more myself.

The show started, and it was seriously like a 90 minute Disneyland ride. I couldn’t stop smiling. It was amazing. It was beautiful. But then about half way through, Blackbird started, and I started sobbing. I couldn’t control it. My emotions were running rampant. The weed cookies might have been to blame for some of that, but the show was amazing.

When it ended, Ash and I waited a few minutes to exit the theater and when we finally did stand up to leave, it was bad news. We were fucked up. I don’t know if it was from all the vodka tonics or the weed, or the mixture of both, but walking was definitely a struggle.

We made it out of the theater and walked around the Mirage for a little while. We were way to drunk to drive, so we made our way to the taxi line that was forever long. I was standing in front of this little old lady in a wheel chair and I swear every time I staggered, she gasped and thought I might fall and kill her. Ha!

The night was awesome! Ash did an amazing job taking care of the love part of Valentine’s Day.

After being utterly disappointed in CatHouse, we decided to head to Caramel at The Bellagio. Ash had been there once with some buddies from his home town, but I had never been.

We knew we had very little money, seeing how we spent $75 just to get in the door and one round of drinks at CatHouse, but we knew we had enough to enjoy ourselves.

Walking into The Bellagio, our troubles disappeared. What a beautiful place. There is really no comparison between the Luxor and the Bellagio. The Bellagio is classy and elegant.

We walked up to the doorman at Caramel. He was a big black guy. Kinda scary looking. But when Ash asked if there was a cover for locals the guy responded, “No, man. Never for locals.” His voice was smooth like butter. He was kind. He was respectful. But he would kick yo ass if you stepped out of line.

Everyone else we came in contact with at Caramel was exactly the same way. The bartender immediately took our drink orders, and although the drinks were just as expensive as they were at CatHouse, we expected that a.) we’re on the Strip and b.) we’re at the Bellagio. But Ash was a little more willing to hand over the money seeing that the customer service was so much better.

The crazy thing is, between the Luxor and Bellagio, I would totally expect to pay a cover charge inside the Bellagio, and due to its classiness, people would be happy to pay it. What shocks me is that the Luxor would charge a cover for locals and that locals would actually pay it. If locals are like me and just want to see it and experience the ambiance, I totally understand because that’s why Ash and I went and paid. But unless you’re local with lots of money and for some reason like the party at CatHouse more than Blush at the Wynn, Vanity at Hard Rock or some of the other nice ultra lounges around town, Luxor probably isn’t getting too many returning locals, which is a shame considering the tourist levels in Las Vegas right now.

So if you’re trying to decide where to hang out one Friday or Saturday night, definitely give Caramel some thought. It may not be a full on ultra lounge, but it has a beautiful environment and it’s in a beautiful hotel.

A couple weeks ago, Ash and I decided to have a night on the town. We wanted to go clubbin’. Not quite sure where to go, we enlisted the help of our friends, the Sin City Socialites. We wanted a place to dance that had cheap drinks. They suggested Tabu at MGM or Drop Bar at Green Valley Ranch. For some reason we decided not to take their advice, and that was a bad call.

We ended up at CatHouse, located inside the Luxor.

When the lounge first opened a few years ago, I read an article about the ambiance that has always had me intrigued. It was described as a Persian Brothel with dark red lighting, elegant tapestries and custom woodwork. But for whatever reason, we never went. So on this occasion we found ourselves, dressed to the nines, headed to CatHouse.

As we walked to the door, we were happy to see that there was not much of a line. But that was the last time we felt good during our CatHouse experience.

As our turn to show our IDs approached, Ash asked the door man if there was a cover for locals. The guy said yes, but he would “cut us a deal.” $30 for him, and $20 for her. Some deal! *Later we found out this was no deal at all. This is actually the regular price. Gotta love those doormen.

We, for some crazy reason decided to fork over the funds. Ash handed the hostess a 50 dollar bill and we were in. As we walked down the long hallway covered in old pictures of ladies in their slips, I was instantly relaxed. We made the right decision. This place is cool. Then we got to the bar.

Hardly anyone was there – it was just a room of empty tables and booths with a couple people at the bar talking to the bartender. We made our way to the bar, and without a moments pause, we were shushed and shewed away. “The bar’s in there,” the bitchy bartender said, offering us no help, no instructions, just a wave of her hand, bluntly expressing that we were not to be in this area.

At this point we had kind of had enough. $50 to get in the door, for locals, at the Luxor and people can’t even be nice. But since we paid the money, we decided to keep going and try to make the best of it.

So we continued to follow the music until we stumbled across the lounge. Set in the back of the establishment, the room was small, but there was quite a bit of sitting room and dance space as well. We made our way to the bar and ordered a vodka tonic (for me) and a screwdriver (for Ash). The drinks were $20; $24 with a tip.

Ash again, forked over the money, but I could tell he was not happy. We sat down, now irritated with everything Cat House related, sucked our drinks down and decided to go.

CatHouse has a lot of potential. The look is impressive. It’s got this vintage, antique, burlesque kind of feel. It’s cool. But that was the only cool thing about it. The people were snotty. The drinks were expensive and the cover was ridiculous. Snotty people and expensive drinks are to be expected at a nightclub especially on the strip, but couple that with a cover for locals, we just can’t get into that. There are so many cooler, nicer places with the same class and elegance with nicer employees and no cover for locals.

After we left CatHouse, we ended up at one of those places. More to come on that tomorrow.

Since I knew I would be away for a few days, I decided to do something very unsexy – I scheduled some time to have a little sexy party with Ash. I know. I know. I have been to Lavo once before. I went with the SinCitySocialites and had a pretty good time. But I’m not too into the ultra lounge scene in Vegas. They tend to get packed, the drinks are weak (and expensive) and the atmosphere is a little too posh for my taste. This was kind of the case with the Eon McKai event.

We were under the impression that if we had RSVP’d to the party there would be an open vodka bar from 10-12. We got there at 11, asked for six vodka tonics (yes we are the people who double fist at an open bar), and the bartender asked what kind of vodka we wanted. Of course we wanted whatever kind of vodka was part of the open bar, but she told us because we didn’t have wristbands, we were not eligible for the open bar. So we ordered three vodka tonics, with house vodka, and I made my way back downstairs to see why we didn’t get wrist bands.

Apparently, you had to go to an earlier event in order to get the wrist band. No where on the event information did I see anything about this earlier event. Needless to say, we didn’t get our wristbands, and we ended up buying all our drinks.

The club got packed around midnight, and we were unable to spot Eon McKai. We still had a good time drinking and people watching, but we were definitely ready for the next party.

So we made our way to The Velvet Lion where Hart and Huntington and a Forbidden Gem girls were hosting the party, and it was definitely a good time.

The club is two levels. The downstairs has two bars, the main stage, tables and sitting areas and a VIP room in the back of the club. Patrons can use the grand staircase or the side elevator to get to the upstairs, which has more VIP rooms and party rooms. The girls at Rick’s are beautiful. I have never seen an unattractive or “B squad” girl there. Some are more my type than others, but Rick’s has more than enough sexy ladies to go around. Classy is not usually an adjective used to describe strip clubs, but Rick’s really is a classy place. I always feel comfortable there. The club is clean and beautiful. The ladies are sexy. And there is something there for everyone. If you’re looking for a great strip club, consider Rick’s Cabaret a must visit.
