The news is a little bittersweet. On one hand, it didn’t come as much of a surprise. Ash and I had already written off the club due to some shady business practices, and apparently, closing down the club was no different. From what we heard, employees showed up for their shift, and the doors were locked. They received no notice. They got no explanation; no apology; no appreciation for the service they provided.

But on the other hand, The Velvet Lion, holds a special place in our hearts. It was the backdrop and setting to many sexy fun nights. We met great people there, some that gave us exceptional customer service, and some that became our friends and are close to us today.

I am happy to know that most of the people we became friends with were already done with The Lion when it closed its doors. They have other jobs, are working on other projects, etc. Unfortunately, this is not the case with everyone there.

But as most strip clubs go, this one will sit for a bit and will re-open as something else. Case in point, before The Velvet Lion, the club was called Eden, but it closed for a bit, reconcepted and reopened as The Velvet Lion.

And thanks to a little scoop from an old old friend, we’ve learned that the next venture for the location is going to be a gay club. I’m not sure of the details yet – maybe a gay bar and dance club; maybe a gay strip club … We haven’t heard yet, but you can be sure that as soon as we hear, we’ll give you the scoop. Who knows, maybe we’ll even head back there – just to make a couple more memories.

For the past several months, Ash and I have had to clear our social and professional calendars on Thursday nights to attend the Porn Star Tweet parties at the Velvet Lion. But this is a never more event … at least at the Velvet Lion.

Due to some extremely unfortunate events the Porn Star Tweet Intimate Encounter and Naughty Tweet Live show are taking a brief sabbatical – leaving Ash and my calendar for Thursday nights totally open.

Thinking about this reminds me of the last PST party and NTL show we were a part of. It was quite possibly the biggest, yet I never posted about it. Crazy! I’ve been super lame, I know! Anyway – it was the night Alexis Texas starred and hosted.

Alexis is quite possibly the biggest porn star to be apart of these events and Ash and I were excited to meet and party with her.

Pete, founder of the Naughty Tweet Live Network, hosted the show and once again asked if I would co-host. Of course I obliged, but he told me I had to do some research – research on a porn star mind you, that’s got to be about the most comprehensive research I’ve ever done.

When Alexis arrived it was striking to me just how beautiful she was. I mean I’ve seen her “perform” and thought her body was killer and thought she was pretty. But seeing her fashionably attired, with her hair and make up done made me realize why so many people want to rip her clothes off and messy up that hair a bit.

The downside, however, was that I got nervous. Apparently, I’m not as confident when surrounded by such attractiveness.

The upside, my comprehensive research paid off. And Ms. Texas and I totally hit it off. In fact there were a couple times that we totally tuned Pete out, even while he was talking, to carry on our own side conversations.

I will admit, I was a little flushed and flustered being around her. I have only felt that way with one other porn star: Evan Stone.

After the Naughty Tweet Live show, Alexis drew in quite the crowd of both fellow porn stars and fans for her Intimate Encounter after party. Unfortunately, Ash and I couldn’t stay late. I couldn’t completely clear my calendar, but let me tell you, it was hard for us to say goodbye.

And who knew we’d be saying goodbye not only to Alexis Texas b ut also temporarily to the event. At least it went out with a bang – pun intended.

I can tell you it wasn’t planned at all. In fact, had it been planned, I would have worn something a little cuter, but lesson learned: always be dressed like you could be the co-host of a porn star Internet show.

Usually, I’m pretty calm when we’re talking to the porn stars, but I was actually really nervous the whole time, which is evident in the video. I keep scratching myself and fidgeting. It wasn’t really official that I was co-hosting either. It was more like Ash and I showed up at the right place at the right time. Pete and Alyss let us in the trailer and there we stayed during the show. So, even though I had questions for Jayla, I constantly felt like I might overstep my bounds by jumping in. So I was pretty quite the whole time, which isn’t normally my style.

But it couldn’t have been a better night to be in the Porn Star Tweet trailer. I say that because, Ash and I have met Jayla Starr numerous times. I think our first encounter was at the Velvet Lion when 20-year-old (at the time) snuck in and got wasted. We wrote a little about her here. The next few times we ran into each other was at AdultCon (you can read about it here and here) and possibly at AEE.

Ash and I have been awaiting for this for the past month or so. But it proved wise to wait. The people over at @pornstartweet have been working uber hard to get everything ready. They remodeled the Porn Star Tweet trailer. They made promos, intros and segments. We are talking full-fledged-porn-star-worthy production here.

Unfortunately, since we were at the event, we weren’t able to actually see the show. And so far, I haven’t figured out how to go back and watch it (if anyone knows, please fill me in!). But from what I heard it was a huge success.

The most recent time this occurred was at the Porn Star Tweet and The Velvet Lion’s Intimate Encounter with Renee Perez.

Ash and I arrived at the club early. We weren’t sure what was going on with the new Naughty Tweet Live project, so we thought, better safe than sorry. Nothing happened with it last week, but I have been told that this coming Thursday, the project will launch. It should be pretty cool.
