Going through a funk
Posted by Lilith on March 28, 2011
Every once in a while, Ash and I will go through this weird strip club funk. We get all psyched up to go. We get there, we’re having fun, totally into each other and into the scene around us, looking to be what we think would be the perfect couple to dance for, but no one approaches us. And not only do we leave with money, we leave a little disappointed.
I think our funk started last weekend. We went over to Ricks. Ash and I have a couple girls that we like over there, and I wanted to see them. So I requested that we go there. The place was pretty full, but there were lots of girls standing along the wall, scouting out people to solicit. We didn’t seem to be those people.

Wish this gril would was dancing for us!
At first we just hung back at a table. We were drinking, talking, making out occasionally. I think if people looked at us, we looked like we both were having a good time. But dancers walked right past us. So we thought maybe if we went up to the stage and started tipping, girls would see that we were into it, ready to have some fun, and had some money to spend.
Unfortunately, there were no seats at the stage. So we stayed at our table, but both we both made our way up to the stage to tip different girls several times. They were very happy to take our dollars, and seemed interested, but as soon as they got off stage, they disappeared.
We left without one dance.
This last weekend, the same thing happened. This time Ash picked. He wanted to go to Deja Vu Showgirls. We have had some great times there, and we like that there are lots of dark little corners you can get lost in — with or without the presence of a dancer.
When we walked in, the club was pretty pumped. We were excited. Both of us were in need of a fun night, some drinks and some boobies in our faces. We were having a great time together. We were super flirty. Again, I if anyone looked at us, they knew were having a good time.
I just want to emphasize the fact that we looked like we were having fun, because I realize that if Ash and I were sitting there, not talking, not interacting, not smiling, and I have my arms folded, and we look miserable, then I expect that girls won’t approach us. But that is not what was going on. We were having a great time, and I think it showed.

We made our way up to the stage where we proceeded to sit and flirt with each other and the dancers and tip. But same story. The dancer would play with us and seem interested, but as soon as they were off the stage, they disappeared.
Last night was a little different in that we did end up getting a dance. She was a cute girl, and she did a fine job. I just think by the time we got the dances, we were a little over the club.
Deja Vu has changed a lot of their rates and rules and it’s just not very couples friendly.
We used to be able to go back to these couches and each get a dance. The price was $20 per dance. It was standard. The couches were on the regular floor, so it wasn’t VIP or anything like that. Well, we found out last night that now, in order to get a dance on the couch it’s $30 per person. So if Ash and I want to get a dance on the couch it’s $30 per person just to sit there. So it would be $60 for one song for the both of us. That is so lame. We aren’t going to do that. It’s simply ridiculous, so the girl just wheeled over two of the individual chairs right in front of the couches. She seriously placed the the back of the chairs touching the couch. lame.
One interesting thing that happened while we were there, the power went out. Never had that happen at a strip club before. It was weird. All the music went dead and stage lights went out. Ash swears he has seen porn flicks that start that way! Ha! Anyway, the power going out was not as exciting as you would think. Within 5 mins all the lights were back on and the computers that played the music were back pumping music. And judging by the loud windows start up sound that played through the speakers as soon as the lights turned back on were PCs. Coincidentally, Earth Hour was Saturday night and the entire strip shut down its lights for an hour. I wonder if this was how the clubs give back to mother earth, by shutting down for a song. On second thought maybe its good we weren’t getting too many dances that night. I would have been a little pissed if the nipples in my face got interrupted because the song ended abruptly.
Deja Vu did come down on drink prices, which is nice. Now locals or card members can get $5 domestic and well drinks. But when you change the price of all the dances and make it ridiculous, it definitely doesn’t drive us back there.
Ash and I left the club and decided that we might be done with that place for a while.
We’ll see what this weekend brings, but I really hope we break out of this funk!
